\"\"<\/a>The endorsement of Gov. Bill Richardson<\/a> is a prize being sought by Hillary Clinton<\/a> and Barack Obama<\/a>, and Richardson<\/st1:city> says he may or may not endorse before Tuesday\u2019s caucus in New Mexico<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>. <\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Is he does issue an endorsement, he\u2019ll do it by the end of the week, he told the Washington Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

\u201cI might. I might not. How\u2019s that for an answer?\u201d the newspaper quoted Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> as saying on Monday. \u201cIf I do endorse, it\u2019s going to be a gut feeling. It\u2019s not going to be about statistics, about past ties. I\u2019ve been on the campaign trail with both of them. I feel that I know them. I feel I know the issues. I feel I know what makes them both tick.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

The newspaper reported that Clinton<\/st1:city> called Richardson<\/st1:city> Sunday night, as did Bill Clinton and Clinton<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> supporter and Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell. Obama called twice Monday morning, and later that day Sen. Edward Kennedy, an Obama supporter, also called.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Richardson<\/st1:city> has close ties with the Clintons<\/st1:city> \u2013 Bill Clinton appointed him to be U.N. ambassador and energy secretary \u2013 but Kennedy campaigned for him when he was elected to Congress in 1982 and, according to Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>, Obama helped him out during a presidential debate last year.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had just been asked a question \u2013 I don\u2019t remember which one \u2013 and Obama was sitting right next to me. Then the moderator went across the room, I think to Chris Dodd, so I thought I was home free for a while. I wasn\u2019t going to listen to the next question,\u201d Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> told the newspaper. \u201cI was about to say something to Obama when the moderator turned to me and said, \u2018So, Gov. Richardson, what do you think of that?\u2019 But I wasn\u2019t paying any attention! I was about to say, \u2018Could you repeat the question? I wasn\u2019t listening.\u2019 But I wasn\u2019t about to say I wasn\u2019t listening. I looked at Obama. I was just horrified. And Obama whispered, \u2018Katrina. Katrina.\u2019 The question was on Katrina! So I said, \u2018On Katrina, my policy\u2026\u2019 Obama could have just thrown me under the bus. So I said, \u2018Obama, that was good of you to do that.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> spokesman Gilbert Gallegos said today that the governor has still not made a decision on whether he will issue an endorsement or, if he does, who he will choose.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Clinton<\/st1:city> is set to announce another round of endorsements, these from state lawmakers, today at a news conference in Santa Fe<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>. That event will be held at 1 p.m. at the Roundhouse in Santa Fe<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>.<\/p>\n

And the Obama campaign\u2019s national co-chair, General Tony McPeak, will be in Albuquerque<\/a> and Las Cruces<\/a> today to discuss foreign policy with Obama supporters and undecideds at events that are open to the public.<\/p>\n

The Clinton<\/st1:city> campaign unveiled late Tuesday a new ad that will air in the Albuquerque<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> market. Obama was the first to run television ads in New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>, but both campaigns have been running ads for several days.<\/p>\n
