Morales has been <st1:placename st=\"on\">Grant<\/st1:PlaceName> <st1:placename st=\"on\">County<\/st1:PlaceName> clerk since 2005 and also teaches at <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Western<\/st1:PlaceName>  <st1:placename st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:PlaceName> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">University<\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cHowie Morales has worked closely with Senator Altamirano,\u201d <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> said in a news release. \u201cI am confident that he will follow in Benny\u2019s footsteps and serve the constituents of Grant, Catron and Socorro counties with the same compassion and commitment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Before taking his current jobs, Morales worked in special education for the Cobre Consolidated Schools and at <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Silver<\/st1:PlaceName> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">City<\/st1:PlaceType>  <st1:placetype st=\"on\">High School<\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place>. He has bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degrees in bilingual special education from <st1:placename st=\"on\">Western<\/st1:PlaceName> <st1:placename st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:PlaceName> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">University<\/st1:PlaceType> and a doctorate in philosophy from <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:PlaceName>  <st1:placetype st=\"on\">State<\/st1:PlaceType> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">University<\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Morales is a lifelong resident of <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Grant<\/st1:PlaceName> <st1:placename st=\"on\">County<\/st1:PlaceName><\/st1:place> and is the longest serving volunteer with Big Brothers\/Big Sisters in the state. He has been named the district\u2019s high-school baseball coach of the year five times and is a member of a number of activist organizations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gov.
