Ballots must be returned to the clerk by 7 p.m. on Election Day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">In-person early voting begins Dec. 26 and will be held at the clerk\u2019s office. Early voting will be held Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on three Saturdays \u2013 Dec. 29, Jan. 5 and Jan. 12 \u2013 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Polls will be open on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The candidates are former Do\u00f1a Ana County Magistrate Judge Patrick J. Curran; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.votejoy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Lawrence Joy<\/a>, the owner of a direct mail advertising firm and the voice of NMSU\u2019s marching band; Berchard Ray Shipley, who has a background in the military, commercial property management and community planning; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sharonthomasforcitycouncil.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sharon Thomas<\/a>, former head of the <a href=\"http:\/\/qga-nm.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Quality Growth Alliance<\/a>; and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.karentrujillo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Karen Trujillo<\/a>, a real-estate broker and president of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hispanochamberlc.org\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Hispano Chamber of Commerce de Las Cruces<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Absentee voting by mail for the Jan. 15 Las Cruces City Council District 6 special election begins today.
