Susana Martinez<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Clearly New Mexico\u2019s Tracy Dingmann has obtained some interesting documents related to the governor\u2019s \u201cSmall Business-Friendly Task Force\u201d and has some revealing posts about them.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.clearlynewmexico.com\/?p=5593\" target=\"_blank\">the first of two posts<\/a> from last week, Dingmann wrote that the task force has been meeting in secret and its membership is \u201cdominated by long-time lobbyists for large corporations, including big dairy, which contributed thousands of dollars to Martinez\u2019s campaign; and the oil, gas and natural gas industry from in and outside the state, which\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/newmexicoindependent.com\/63280\/susana-martinez-taps-republican-pipeline-to-out-raise-diane-denish\" target=\"_blank\">gave her hundreds of thousands.<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>From the post:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe companies represented by lobbyists on the \u2018small business\u2019 task force include oil and gas producers and distributors from Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona and Colorado; copper, gold and uranium mining companies from Arizona; a payday loan company based in Georgia and a giant tobacco company from North Carolina.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Dingmann questions whether the selections match up with Martinez\u2019s rhetoric, and point to quotes in which Martinez says government needs to make sure that \u201cthe people are being represented.\u201d Dingmann argues that \u201c\u2018the people\u2019 were left out of finding what happened\u201d in the task force\u2019s meetings because, as the documents she obtained through a records request reveal, the task force has been meeting in secret.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s not illegal, but Dingmann questions whether it matches with Martinez\u2019s public promise to be transparent.<\/p>\n<h3>Trying to eliminate regulations<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.clearlynewmexico.com\/?p=5634\" target=\"_blank\">a second posting<\/a>, Dingmann digs into documents that \u201cshow (task force) members were never inclined to keep\u00a0any\u00a0of the regulations \u2013 in fact, they are focused on devising tactics the Martinez administration can use to eliminate each one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dingmann highlights one \u201cmid-point report\u201d that includes this statement about the task force\u2019s goal:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe goal is to provide the Governor and\/or agencies cover when repealing or revising a rule or regulation thus avoiding litigation if possible.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe final report to the Governor will include a road map of short and long-term tactics and strategies, including the use of executive orders and legislative strategies. Each troublesome regulation identified will be accompanied by a recommendation on the best way to remove their negative impacts (sic).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dingmann\u2019s posts are worth a read.
