Montoya<\/a> will officially announce on Wednesday his candidacy for the Third Congressional District seat being vacated by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.udallforusall.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tom Udall<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cAs a nation we face great challenges here at home and globally on the world stage. I know that we can overcome these challenges by working together,\u201d Montoya said in a news release. \u201cAs Americans we have proven that when we stand together there is nothing we cannot accomplish. I ask you to stand with me as I announce that I am running for Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The announcement will be made at the Pueblo of Pojoaque Boys and Girls Club, <st1:street st=\"on\"><st1:address st=\"on\">101 Lighting Loop   Road<\/st1:address><\/st1:street> in <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Santa   Fe<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>, at 4 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Montoya was first elected county commissioner in 2002. In 2006, he ran unopposed and won re-election. Before elected to the commission, he served eight years on the Pojoaque Valley School Board, and he is a past president of the state school board association.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">He\u2019s a native New Mexican who has been married to <st1:place st=\"on\">Doris<\/st1:place> for 28 years. They have two children, Brian, 27 and Angelo, 22, and three grandchildren. He is CEO of Hand Across Culture Corp., a non-profit agency involved in community mobilization efforts that includes educational, health and social services programs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Montoya has a master\u2019s degree in counseling psychology from <st1:placename st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">State<\/st1:placetype> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">University<\/st1:placetype> and a bachelor\u2019s degree in psychology from <st1:placename st=\"on\">Westmar<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">University<\/st1:placetype> in <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">LeMars<\/st1:city>,  <st1:state st=\"on\">Iowa<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Two other Democrats \u2013state Indian Affairs Secretary Benny Shendo Jr. and <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Santa Fe<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> green builder <a href=\"http:\/\/donfornewmexico.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Don Wiviott<\/a> \u2013 have entered the race. One Republican &#8211; Marco E. Gonzales, an attorney who spent 10 years working for U.S. Sen. <a href=\"http:\/\/domenici.senate.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pete Domenici<\/a> as a defense appropriations specialist \u2013 is running.
