{"id":2607,"date":"2007-12-06T12:53:00","date_gmt":"2007-12-06T18:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/12\/attorney-to-run-for-carraros-senate-seat\/"},"modified":"2007-12-06T12:53:00","modified_gmt":"2007-12-06T18:53:00","slug":"attorney-to-run-for-carraros-senate-seat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/12\/attorney-to-run-for-carraros-senate-seat\/","title":{"rendered":"Attorney to run for Carraro&#8217;s Senate seat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/R1lpGrF27pI\/AAAAAAAAEKo\/kXtN-FUCdXs\/s1600-h\/Pyne,+David.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/R1lpGrF27pI\/AAAAAAAAEKo\/kXtN-FUCdXs\/s200\/Pyne,+David.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5141256012987559570\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>David Pyne, a Republican activist, attorney and former Army officer, has announced his candidacy for the state Senate seat being vacated by <a href=\"http:\/\/legis.state.nm.us\/lcs\/legdetails.asp?Name=255&amp;Submit=Search\" target=\"_blank\">Joe Carraro<\/a>, who is running for Congress.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Pyne, 38, lives in the Paradise Hills community in <a href=\"http:\/\/legis.state.nm.us\/lcs\/DistrictMaps\/2002SenateDistricts\/Senate23.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Senate District 23<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI believe I am the strongest candidate in the race to replace Senator Joe Carraro,\u201d Pyne said. \u201cOnce elected to the state Senate, I will fight to improve education, promote job-growth, secure our southern border and bring honesty and integrity to <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Santa   Fe<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Pyne works on legal and contract issues for Honeywell Aerospace. He spent more than six years working in a number of capacities in the defense industry in the <st1:city st=\"on\">Washington<\/st1:city>, <st1:state st=\"on\">D.C.<\/st1:state> area prior to relocating to <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Albuquerque<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> several years ago.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">He\u2019s been active in the GOP, most recently serving as ward chairman for the county party. He is a member of a number of national security and military organizations and the National Rifle Association.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Pyne praised Carraro, saying he has a \u201clong and distinguished record of service to the people of the 23rd state Senate district.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">He received a bachelor\u2019s degree from <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Brigham<\/st1:placename> <st1:placename st=\"on\">Young<\/st1:placename>  <st1:placetype st=\"on\">University<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place> in 1992 and is a 1995 graduate of Southwestern University School of Law. In 2000, he graduated from <st1:placename st=\"on\">Georgetown<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">University<\/st1:placetype>\u2019s <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placetype st=\"on\">School<\/st1:placetype> of <st1:placename st=\"on\">Foreign Service<\/st1:placename><\/st1:place> and received a master\u2019s degree in national security studies. Before that, he served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in <st1:country-region st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Brazil<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Pyne is married to Donelle and they have four daughters \u2013 11-year-old Christina, 7-year-old Kathryn, 6-year-old Caitlin and 4-year-old Ashley.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>David Pyne, a Republican activist, attorney and former Army officer, has announced his candidacy for the state Senate seat being vacated by Joe Carraro, who is running for Congress.
