{"id":25959,"date":"2011-02-10T11:51:18","date_gmt":"2011-02-10T18:51:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/?p=25959"},"modified":"2011-02-10T11:51:18","modified_gmt":"2011-02-10T18:51:18","slug":"state-gop-names-new-executive-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2011\/02\/state-gop-names-new-executive-director\/","title":{"rendered":"State GOP names new executive director"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/gopnm.com\/\">Republican Party of New Mexico<\/a> has named <a href=\"http:\/\/watkinsb.com\/\">Bryan Watkins<\/a>, who most recently served as the RNC\u2019s 72-hour director, to be its executive director.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis previous campaign experience in California and on the national level will be a welcome addition to the team and will help us develop a strategy to win elections up and down the ballot this cycle,\u201d state GOP Chairman Monty Newman said in a news release.<\/p>\n<p>Watkins replaces Marge Teague, who has held the position since late last year but announced her retirement from the party earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>In serving as the RNC\u2019s 72-hour director during the last election cycle, Watkins oversaw day-to-day field operations nationwide for the RNC\u2019s victory program. He also managed Damon Dunn\u2019s successful bid for the Republican nomination for California secretary of state last year.<\/p>\n<p>In 2008, the California native ran the statewide victory program in Minnesota.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am humbled by the opportunity to come to New Mexico and serve the party,\u201d Watkins said. \u201cI am also very excited to help lay the foundation that will elect Republicans in New Mexico.
