I <a href=\"http:\/\/haussamen.blogspot.com\/2007\/10\/polls-indicate-that-guvs-presidential.html\">wrote on Monday<\/a> about his decline in the polls. Today, three new polls further confirm his sinking support.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">To top it off, the <a href=\"http:\/\/nationaljournal.com\/racerankings\/wh08\/democrats\/\" target=\"_blank\">National Journal<\/a> has moved <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> from fourth in its rankings among Democratic presidential contenders to sixth. In addition to being behind <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hillaryclinton.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hillary Clinton<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.barackobama.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Barack Obama<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnedwards.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">John Edwards<\/a>, he\u2019s now also ranked by the publication behind <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chrisdodd.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Chris Dodd<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.joebiden.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Joe Biden<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cThe issue we have with <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> is that he\u2019s a terrible liberal; it\u2019s not in the guy\u2019s DNA,\u201d the National Journal states. \u201cHe\u2019s trying to become the anti-war candidate but doesn\u2019t seem like a credible messenger.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Three American Research Group polls released today have <st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city> at 7 percent in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.americanresearchgroup.com\/pres08\/iadem8-711.html\" target=\"_blank\">Iowa<\/a>, 5 percent in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.americanresearchgroup.com\/pres08\/nhdem8-711.html\" target=\"_blank\">New Hampshire<\/a> and 1 percent in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.americanresearchgroup.com\/pres08\/scdem8-709.html\" target=\"_blank\">South Carolina<\/a>. All three are drops from the group\u2019s September polls. Meanwhile, Biden has climbed to 5 percent in <st1:state st=\"on\">Iowa<\/st1:state>, 4 percent in <st1:state st=\"on\">New Hampshire<\/st1:state> and 6 percent in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">South Carolina<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> in the new polls.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">In the face of all the bad news, Richardson came to Clinton\u2019s defense today, saying he regrets the \u201cnegative tone\u201d Obama and Edwards have taken in accusing her of being too close to lobbyists, according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/s\/ap\/20071030\/ap_po\/richardson_rivals;_ylt=ArvqgBRTPFn9MoY3FWj3vUes0NUE\" target=\"_blank\">Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI think that Senators Obama and Edwards should concentrate on the issues and not on attacking Senator Clinton,\u201d the news service quoted <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> as saying. \u201cIt\u2019s OK to get aggressive on the issues, but to make personal attacks on somebody\u2019s attachments to lobbyists, that\u2019s not the kind of positive tone I want to see.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Richardson \u2013 a guy who has accused all three frontrunners in recent months of deceiving the American people with their <st1:country-region st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Iraq<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> plans \u2013 also predicted he\u2019ll win the nomination because he\u2019s running a positive campaign.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">But his defense of <st1:city st=\"on\">Clinton<\/st1:city> is raising eyebrows in part because it comes on the same day that <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Clinton<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>, on her campaign\u2019s official news <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hillaryhub.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Web site<\/a>, took the unusual step of putting up video of and information about the attacks by Obama and Edwards. <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Clinton<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> also included a link to a news release from her campaign that essentially says she\u2019s being unfairly attacked.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Richardson and Clinton defending <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Clinton<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> from attacks on the same day? While <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> is sinking in the polls? What does it mean?<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Maybe nothing. Maybe much more than that.
