The confusion comes at a time when many Democrats, unsatisfied with their candidates who are vying for the right to take on either US. Rep. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pearceforcongress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Steve Pearce<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/wilson.house.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Heather Wilson<\/a> in the Senate race next year, are pushing for Gov. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.richardsonforpresident.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bill Richardson<\/a>, Lt. Gov. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dianedenish.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Diane Denish<\/a> or U.S. Rep. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.udallforusall.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tom Udall<\/a> to enter the race.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/RyZNLx_paWI\/AAAAAAAAD0s\/WyeMF22rmSQ\/s1600-h\/Chavez,+Martin.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/RyZNLx_paWI\/AAAAAAAAD0s\/WyeMF22rmSQ\/s200\/Chavez,+Martin.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5126870090602080610\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>A Thursday news release from Ch\u00e1vez\u2019s campaign listed Paul Blanchard, who serves on Richardson\u2019s national finance committee, and Javier Gonzales, a former Santa Fe County commissioner, as members of Ch\u00e1vez\u2019s finance committee.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Though his name wasn\u2019t included in the news release, Ch\u00e1vez told me during a Thursday interview that Cope, a big supporter of <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> and Denish, was also a member of his finance committee. Ch\u00e1vez\u2019s campaign manager told the same to the <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Washington<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> publication <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rollcall.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Roll Call<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">But Gonzales told me Friday that he did not agree to serve on the committee. He said he would raise money for Ch\u00e1vez just like he would for other Democrats. And Blanchard refused to comment on whether he is a member of the committee. You can read more about the situation by clicking <a href=\"http:\/\/haussamen.blogspot.com\/2007\/10\/confusion-surrounds-chvezs-finance.html\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Cope\u2019s statement means there was confusion surrounding the inclusion of at least three of the 12 people Ch\u00e1vez said on Thursday had agreed to be members of his campaign. Apparently, the situation is being clarified.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cMarty and I talked about it after the news release came out, and I agreed to do it,\u201d Cope said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Ch\u00e1vez could not immediately be reached for comment.
