{"id":24391,"date":"2010-12-16T13:21:36","date_gmt":"2010-12-16T20:21:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/?p=24391"},"modified":"2010-12-16T13:21:40","modified_gmt":"2010-12-16T20:21:40","slug":"vigil-giron-trial-delayed-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2010\/12\/vigil-giron-trial-delayed-again\/","title":{"rendered":"Vigil-Giron trial delayed again"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_5741\"  class=\"wp-caption module image alignright\" style=\"max-width: 270px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5741 \" title=\"Vigil-Giron\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/Vigil-Giron.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"270\" height=\"239\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rebecca Vigil-Giron<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The trial of former Secretary of State\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rebecca_Vigil-Giron\">Rebecca Vigil-Giron<\/a> and three others accused of bilking taxpayers out of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2009\/09\/2009\/08\/prosecutors-allege-the-theft-of-millions-of-dollars\/\">millions of dollars<\/a> has been delayed again.<\/p>\n<p>The defendants were originally scheduled to go on trial <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2009\/12\/trial-of-vigil-giron-others-set-for-july\/\">in July<\/a>, but the trial was rescheduled for Jan. 3 of next year. Now the trial date has been delayed again. No new date has been set by the court, Phil Sisernos, spokesman for the Attorney General\u2019s Office, confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>Vigil-Giron, lobbyists\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sos.state.nm.us\/Lobby\/940531.HTM\">Joseph Kupfer<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sos.state.nm.us\/Lobby\/070154.HTM\">Elizabeth Kupfer<\/a>,\u00a0and media consultant Armando Gutierrez, who headed the company Vigil-Giron hired to help the state implement a federal voter education program, each face 50 counts including money laundering, fraud, soliciting or receiving kickbacks and tax evasion.
