Nina Martinez, the state party\u2019s first vice chair, and Monty Newman, a former Hobbs mayor, are both running for the position of state party chair.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Martinez had no immediate comment, but said she would call NMPolitics.net back shortly. Newman could not immediately be reached for comment.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting of the party\u2019s central committee will be held Saturday at Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town beginning at 10 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Newman, in addition to being a former Hobbs mayor, ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 2008. He\u2019s also a past vice president of the National Association of Realtors.
