The report stated that Pearce wants to inform supporters informally and won\u2019t make a formal announcement until sometime in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">He\u2019ll have to face U.S. Rep. <a href=\"http:\/\/wilson.house.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Heather Wilson<\/a> and newcomer <a href=\"http:\/\/haussamen.blogspot.com\/2007\/10\/oil-man-to-challenge-wilson-in-primary.html\">Spiro G. Vassilopoulos<\/a> in a GOP primary. The Democrats who are running for Senate are Albuquerque Mayor <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chavezforsenate.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Martin Ch\u00e1vez<\/a> and political newcomers <a href=\"http:\/\/www.donfornewmexico.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Don Wiviott<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jimhannan.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jim Hannan<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mothermedia.org\/2008platform.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Leland Lehrman<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The news opens up the race for Pearce\u2019s House seat. Three Democrats are already running: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kisslingforcongress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Al Kissling<\/a>, Do\u00f1a Ana County Commissioner <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billmccamley.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bill McCamley<\/a> and former Lea County Commissioner <a href=\"http:\/\/haussamen.blogspot.com\/2007\/10\/former-lea-county-commissioner-to-run.html\">Harry Teague<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Check back for more on this.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"MsoNormal\">Update, 1:20 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lcsun-news.com\/news\/ci_7194067\" target=\"_blank\">Associated Press<\/a> has also confirmed that Pearce will run for Senate.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>U.S. Rep.
