According to <a href=\"http:\/\/query.nictusa.com\/cgi-bin\/dcdev\/forms\/C00373118\/306195\/\" target=\"_blank\">his report<\/a>, Pearce raised $251,021 during the quarter and spent $52,040, leaving him with $582,312 on hand.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Pearce is seriously considering dropping his re-election bid to run for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by <a href=\"http:\/\/domenici.senate.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pete Domenici<\/a>. If that happens, McCamley is poised to be the frontrunner in the race for an open House seat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/RxO88Cs9MXI\/AAAAAAAADsg\/Bh-gHNg73nI\/s1600-h\/Kissling,+Al.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/RxO88Cs9MXI\/AAAAAAAADsg\/Bh-gHNg73nI\/s200\/Kissling,+Al.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5121644940953989490\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>McCamley, according to <a href=\"http:\/\/query.nictusa.com\/cgi-bin\/dcdev\/forms\/C00433953\/306631\/\" target=\"_blank\">the report he filed<\/a> this weekend with the Federal Election Commission, raised $65,755 and spent $13,462 during the third quarter. Running such a lean organization means he has raised just over $206,000 for the race and ended the quarter with almost $186,000 on hand.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cAs a county commissioner I work every day to make sure that <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Do\u00f1a<\/st1:placename> <st1:placename st=\"on\">Ana<\/st1:placename> <st1:placename st=\"on\">County<\/st1:placename><\/st1:place> spends funding as efficiently as possible. Furthermore, as someone who is not personally wealthy and has to live within a budget, I know that we must spend every dollar as intelligently as possible,\u201d McCamley said of his campaign\u2019s financial status. \u201cWe\u2019re saving our money for when it becomes really necessary. So far, we\u2019ve kept the staff small, and we\u2019ll only spend on things that we think really advance our chances to win. Plain and simple.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Kissling, according to <a href=\"http:\/\/query.nictusa.com\/cgi-bin\/dcdev\/forms\/C00419259\/306765\/\" target=\"_blank\">his report<\/a>, raised $10,858 during the quarter and spent $10,393, leaving him with $6,050 on hand. He has raised a total of $33,752 this election cycle and spent $34,380, and also carries a $35,000 debt to himself from his failed 2006 attempt to unseat Pearce.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Kissling acknowledged his light fundraising during the first three quarters of the year, but said that has changed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cWe just started trying to seriously raise money the first of October,\u201d Kissling said. \u201cI feel good about having people on the ground working on petitions and helping us get established.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">That\u2019s somewhat of a shift for Kissling, who said three months ago that the money didn\u2019t matter. Today, he noted McCamley\u2019s fundraising, and said defeating him will be \u201can uphill battle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cWe\u2019re ready to go against Pearce. That\u2019s easy, I think, this time,\u201d Kissling said. \u201cBut the problem is to win the primary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Pearce\u2019s campaign finance director couldn\u2019t be reached for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size:130%;\">More details<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">For McCamley, the amount raised is quite a dip from the $140,000 he raised during the second quarter. Though fundraising for most candidates across the nation was less during the third quarter than the second, McCamley\u2019s decrease of about $74,000 between second- and third-quarter fundraising contrasts with Pearce\u2019s increase of about $6,000. McCamley\u2019s contributions from July to September included $59,255 from individuals and $6,500 from political action committees. Kissling has received no PAC money.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Pearce\u2019s contributions included $203,000 from individuals \u2013 the vast majority of them living in the Second Congressional District \u2013 and $48,000 from PACs. McCamley\u2019s report lists a number of contributors from the Second Congressional District, many from around New Mexico and others from the East Coast, where he held a couple of fundraisers during the quarter. Most of Kissling\u2019s contributors live in the <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Las   Cruces<\/st1:city><\/st1:place> area, though a few also live out of state.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size:130%;\">On to the fourth quarter<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Kissling said he has hired a new webmaster and will unveil a new Web site in the coming days. He pledged a meatier finance report in January.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cWe\u2019ll be doing better this quarter,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">McCamley, who was recently endorsed by three state representatives and one member of the Public Regulation Commission, said he is gaining momentum going into the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cWe\u2019ll continue putting together the resources we need to win,\u201d he said. \u201cWith our recent endorsements, people see that we\u2019re gaining momentum, which helps us bring in more money.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Do\u00f1a Ana County Commissioner Bill McCamley raised almost $66,000 during the third quarter of the year for his congressional run, while Al Kissling raised almost $11,000.
