She\u2019ll have to face <a href=\"http:\/\/www.martinheinrich.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Martin Heinrich<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jonadamsforcongress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jon Adams<\/a> in a Democratic primary, and Bernalillo County Sheriff <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bernco.gov\/live\/departments.asp?dept=2318\" target=\"_blank\">Darren White<\/a> is running on the GOP side. Other Democrats and Republicans are also considering entering the race.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cYou need someone who will fight for you in Congress, and I\u2019m that person,\u201d Grisham said in an interview with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqjournal.com\/news\/state\/apgrisham10-11-07.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Grisham is 47. She worked as director of the state Agency on Aging under three governors before being named secretary of health in 2004.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">She told the news service her campaign theme will be that Congress and the president are neglecting domestic issues because of the war in <st1:country-region st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Iraq<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>. She said she can \u201cforge relationships, bridge partisan politics and focus on things that mean something to people.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI\u2019ve got the experience and the commitment and the dedication to do something about these domestic issues and improve the quality of life for people here in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>,\u201d the news service quoted her as saying.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former state Health Secretary Michelle Lujan Grisham formally announced today her run for the First Congressional District seat being vacated next year by Rep.
