Pearce is also seriously considering the race.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Lyons<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> said he wasn\u2019t able to speak with Pearce this weekend, but the congressman is supposed to call him Tuesday or Wednesday \u2013 which may be an indicator of when Pearce plans to reveal his decision.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cWe\u2019re not any closer,\u201d <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Lyons<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> said. \u201cWe\u2019re still undecided right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The Pearce campaign told me today it had no news to report on whether the congressman is closer to making a decision on the Senate race.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Lyons<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> said he\u2019ll also have to consider which Democrats get into the race, and noted that he\u2019s also considering whether to run for governor in 2010. The land commissioner is the only GOP statewide elected official in <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:state st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:state><\/st1:place> and will be forced by term limits to leave his current job at the end of 2010.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">U.S. Sen. <a href=\"http:\/\/domenici.senate.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pete Domenici\u2019s<\/a> retirement has injected a great deal of uncertainty into <st1:state st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:state> politics, <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Lyons<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cThe whole political deck\u2019s been reshuffled here,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">U.S. Rep. <a href=\"http:\/\/wilson.house.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Heather Wilson<\/a> and political newcomer <a href=\"http:\/\/haussamen.blogspot.com\/2007\/10\/oil-man-to-challenge-wilson-in-primary.html\">Spiro Vassilopoulos<\/a> have both announced they are running in the GOP primary for Senate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Lyons<\/st1:city> said running to replace <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Wilson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> in the House isn\u2019t an option.
