We\u2019re more driven by what\u2019s the right thing in our heart, what do we feel we need to and must do,\u201d Pearce said. \u201cSo it\u2019s not like we\u2019re going to go out and run polls and then do what the polls say. We\u2019ll reflect and then decide what\u2019s right for the state and what\u2019s right for our office.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Pearce made the comments on Thursday to Jodi Breisler of Capitol News Connection, whose story you can listen to by clicking <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cncnews.org\/index.php?files=story.php&amp;storyid=k3eQKwfwkpnN6653WfuF\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>. You can listen to the full interview by clicking <a href=\"http:\/\/www.haussamen.com\/PearceOnDomenici.MP3\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/haussamen.blogspot.com\/2007\/10\/state-waits-as-pearce-considers-senate.html\">Earlier today<\/a>, Pearce\u2019s campaign finance director told me the congressman may have a comment in the next 24-48 hours on whether he\u2019s running.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Pearce said news of Domenici\u2019s retirement came as a \u201ccomplete surprise,\u201d and, because of that, \u201cit\u2019s a little bit sudden for us to have any plans laid out. We\u2019ll give it a respectful time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">He didn\u2019t define \u201crespectful time,\u201d but when asked to do so, said this about Domenici:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cWe\u2019ve got a guy here who served for 36 years with honor, with dignity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Pearce said his decision on whether to run for Senate will be \u201cvery reasoned.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cWe will consider the good things we are doing in the Second Congressional District of Southern New Mexico,\u201d Pearce said. \u201cIn my mind and the staff\u2019s mind we are doing stunning, good things.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>U.S. Rep.
