Dems like guv, don&#8217;t think he&#8217;ll win nomination"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/RuWXVoBJ7SI\/AAAAAAAADVA\/FEarmchmhoQ\/s1600-h\/Richardsonforpresident.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/RuWXVoBJ7SI\/AAAAAAAADVA\/FEarmchmhoQ\/s200\/Richardsonforpresident.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5108655750097005858\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>A new poll finds that more New Mexico Democrats want <a href=\"http:\/\/www.richardsonforpresident.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bill Richardson<\/a> to be their party\u2019s nominee for president in 2008 than any other candidate, but they don\u2019t think it will happen.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">A majority do, however, think he\u2019ll be the party\u2019s vice-presidential nominee.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqjournal.com\/news\/state\/593035nm09-09-07.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Albuquerque Journal poll<\/a>, released Sunday, found that 44 percent support <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> in the primary, compared to 17 percent for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hillaryclinton.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hillary Clinton<\/a> and 8 percent each for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.barackobama.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Barack Obama<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnedwards.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">John Edwards<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">On the flip side, 52 percent of New Mexico Democrats think <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Clinton<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> will win the nomination. Only 11 percent think <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> will win it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rpinc.com\/wb\/pages\/rpi.php\" target=\"_blank\">Research and Polling<\/a> surveyed 407 registered Democrats between Tuesday and Thursday for the Journal. The poll had a margin of error of 5 percent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Even though <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> says he doesn\u2019t want the vice presidential spot on the ticket, 55 percent of those polled said he\u2019ll get it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> was also graded by those surveyed for his performance on the campaign trail; 25 percent gave him an A, 42 percent gave him a B, 21 percent gave him a C, 10 percent gave him a D and 2 percent gave him an F.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The poll reveals the reality of the race for the Democratic nomination. As <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rasmussenreports.com\/public_content\/politics\/2008_democratic_presidential_primary\" target=\"_blank\">Rasmussen Reports<\/a> states today, the contest for the Democratic nomination has been remarkably stable in recent weeks, with <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Clinton<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> climbing slightly in national polls and the other candidates not moving much \u2013 up or down.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cOne reason that the Democratic race has remained so stable is that it\u2019s been difficult for Obama and Edwards to articulate a convincing reason to dethrone <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Clinton<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> as the frontrunner,\u201d the report states. \u201cDemocratic voters see only modest ideological differences between the three leading candidates. Also, while Democrats are fairly confident that all three would have a chance to win the general election, they have the most confidence in <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Clinton<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">In the <st1:state st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:state> survey, 48 percent said <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Clinton<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> will win the general election if she wins the primary, while 31 percent said she\u2019ll be defeated in the general election if she wins the primary.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new poll finds that more New Mexico Democrats want Bill Richardson to be their party\u2019s nominee for president in 2008 than any other candidate, but they don\u2019t think it will happen.
