Las Crucen Miguel Silva has spoken publicly about his intention to run against Frietze but has not formally announced his candidacy. Election Day is Nov. 6.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI have chosen to run for re-election so I may see many important ventures that have begun through completion,\u201d the Sun-News quoted Frietze as saying. \u201cI know in the future we will see stunning results from the revitalization of downtown <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Las Cruces<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>. I have been involved in the development of funding and the planning for this great project.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The newspaper quoted Frietze as saying he is a strong advocate of planned economic development and maintaining the city\u2019s cultural and historic heritage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Frietze is the chief executive officer of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fyinm.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Families and Youth, Inc.<\/a>, an organization he co-founded that serves at-risk youth in <st1:place st=\"on\">Southern New  Mexico<\/st1:place>. He is a native of the <st1:city st=\"on\">Las Cruces<\/st1:city> area and attended public schools in Mesilla and <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Las Cruces<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>. He has a bachelor\u2019s in business administration from <st1:placename st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">State<\/st1:placetype> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">University<\/st1:placetype> and is an Air Force veteran who served in <st1:country-region st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Vietnam<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>, the newspaper reported.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Frietze served on the <a href=\"http:\/\/lcps.k12.nm.us\/Committees\/Board\/index.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">Las Cruces Public Schools Board of Education<\/a> for a decade before moving to the city council.
