It&#8217;s that lonely time in the political cycle when 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is questioning everything and everyone around them. And, you know what that means.\u00a0\u00a0It&#8217;s resignation time!<\/p>\n<p>First it was Peter Orzsag of The Office of Management and Budget.<\/p>\n<p>Next it was Christina Romer of the White House Council of Economic Advisors.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday &#8211; on the very day before summer would\u00a0officially be deemed over &#8211; it was Lawrence Summers, who announced that his time with the National Economics Council would\u00a0 be ending at the close of\u00a02010. (Oh the irony of summer ending, if you will here,\u00a0\u00a0is nothing short of fantastic&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>Today it was Herb Allison of the\u00a0big, bad Troubled Asset Relief Program, otherwise known as TARP.<\/p>\n<p>My\u00a0predicition is that this is just the first-round of resignations.\u00a0This is a classic attempt to save some face (and votes) before the mid-term elections in November.<\/p>\n<p>The prediction goes on, however.\u00a0This\u00a0first-round of resignations\u00a0won&#8217;t be enough to save face, and so\u00a0there will be a miserable loss on Nov. 2.<\/p>\n<p>This will then lead\u00a0the Obama administration\u00a0to the second-round of resignations, which will be larger and deeper in an even more desperate attempt to brace for what&#8217;s just around the corner &#8211; 2012.<\/p>\n<p><em>Sarah Lenti is the blogger behind NMPolitics.net\u2019s <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/the-savvy\/\"><em>The Savvy<\/em><\/a><em>.
