{"id":2128,"date":"2007-08-21T09:18:00","date_gmt":"2007-08-21T15:18:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/08\/connor-announces-re-election-bid\/"},"modified":"2007-08-21T09:18:00","modified_gmt":"2007-08-21T15:18:00","slug":"connor-announces-re-election-bid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/08\/connor-announces-re-election-bid\/","title":{"rendered":"Connor announces re-election bid"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/RssCcoBJ6FI\/AAAAAAAADLg\/suxjh8ZN4vk\/s1600-h\/Connor,+Dolores.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/RssCcoBJ6FI\/AAAAAAAADLg\/suxjh8ZN4vk\/s200\/Connor,+Dolores.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5101173693729073234\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>Las Cruces Mayor Pro-Tem <a href=\"http:\/\/www.las-cruces.org\/council\/district2.shtm\" target=\"_blank\">Dolores Connor<\/a> is asking voters to keep her for another term on Nov. 6.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Connor made the announcement late Monday in a news release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cAs a native Las Crucen, ensuring that our community grows with the essential quality-of-life amenities our citizens deserve is at the forefront of my thoughts,\u201d she said. \u201cI love my job and I want to continue dealing with the issues facing <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Las   Cruces<\/st1:city><\/st1:place>, listening to all the stakeholders and making decisions that are important to our community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Connor is being challenged by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ece.nmsu.edu\/ecea\/boudreau.html\" target=\"_blank\">Vince Boudreau<\/a>, a former member of the Las Cruces Public Schools Board of Education. A group of people upset with the council\u2019s handling of the city\u2019s rapid growth \u2013 including Boudreau \u2013 are attempting to unseat some of the more pro-growth candidates like Connor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Connor\u2019s release said she has worked to protect the <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Organ<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">Mountains<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place> while supporting \u201cmanaged growth\u201d and \u201ceconomic development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI have enjoyed listening and working with the people in District 2,\u201d Connor said. \u201cWhether it\u2019s through a neighborhood meeting or a one-on-one discussion with constituents, listening and learning from these residents provides valuable input into the decision-making process.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Connor sits on a number of community boards and is vice president of the New Mexico Municipal League.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Las Cruces Mayor Pro-Tem Dolores Connor is asking voters to keep her for another term on Nov. 6.
