{"id":2109,"date":"2007-08-16T05:55:00","date_gmt":"2007-08-16T11:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/08\/state-wont-produce-distribute-marijuana\/"},"modified":"2007-08-16T05:55:00","modified_gmt":"2007-08-16T11:55:00","slug":"state-wont-produce-distribute-marijuana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/08\/state-wont-produce-distribute-marijuana\/","title":{"rendered":"State won&#8217;t produce, distribute marijuana"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Fearing it could result in the federal prosecution of state employees, the Richardson Administration said on Wednesday that it won\u2019t comply with the portion of the new medical marijuana law that requires the state to oversee the drug\u2019s production and distribution.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cThe Department of Health will not subject its employees to potential federal prosecution, and therefore will not distribute or produce medical marijuana,\u201d Dr. Alfredo Vigil, the department\u2019s secretary, told the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqjournal.com\/news\/apoversee08-15-07.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The department will continue certifying patients to possess marijuana under the terms of the new bill.
