Ewing to be the district&#8217;s next superintendent.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Ewing\u00a0comes from the Cobb County School District in Marietta, Ga., where he has been the chief accountability and research officer. Ewing will start work on Dec. 5, and his 18-month contract will pay him $165,000 per year, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/damienwillis\/status\/794308573199093760\" target=\"_blank\">according to<\/a> Damien Willis of the Las Cruces Sun-News.<\/p>\n<p>Ewing, who attended the school board meeting by phone, said taking the job would be &#8220;an honor and a privilege,&#8221; Willis <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/damienwillis\/status\/794307712133664768\" target=\"_blank\">tweeted<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ewing was in Las Cruces several weeks ago for a forum with the public.
