She will remain in the interim job until the board hires a new superintendent, the newspaper reported.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Haugen\u2019s last day is today. The popular leader is taking a job as superintendent of the school district in <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Anthony<\/st1:city>, <st1:state st=\"on\">Texas<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Nava, who chairs the <a href=\"http:\/\/legis.state.nm.us\/lcs\/committeedisplay.asp?CommCode=SEC\" target=\"_blank\">Senate Education Committee<\/a>, told the newspaper her goals will be to continue several initiatives in reading and math and a new plan to increase the involvement of parents, and to \u201cmaintain the momentum and keep a careful watch on student progress and keep moving the district forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Gadsden<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> is one of the larger school districts in the state, with 14,000 students and 26 schools.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>State Sen.
