Bush\u2019s administration, will be among the speakers at the <a href=\"http:\/\/domenici.nmsu.edu\/2010-domenici-conference.html\">Domenici Public Policy Conference<\/a> being held at New Mexico State University in September.<\/p>\n<p>The university made the announcement today <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/NMSUDomenici\">on Twitter<\/a>. Rove \u201cwill discuss the midterm election during the 2010 Domenici Conference,\u201d one tweet states.<\/p>\n<p>Rove is currently a contributor to FOX News and a columnist for the Wall Street Journal and Newsweek.<\/p>\n<p>Other speakers listed on <a href=\"http:\/\/domenici.nmsu.edu\/2010-domenici-conference.html\">a flyer<\/a> for the Domenici conference are former White House Press Secretary <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Joe_Lockhart\">Joe Lockhart<\/a>, ABC newsman <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sam_Donaldson\">Sam Donaldson<\/a>, U.S. Sen. <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kay_Bailey_Hutchison\">Kay Bailey Hutchinson<\/a>, former U.S. Sen. <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sam_Nunn\">Sam Nunn<\/a>, and Thomas O. Hunter, a retired president and director of Sandia National Laboratories.<\/p>\n<p>The conference will focus on financial reform, national security and analysis of this year\u2019s midterm election.<\/p>\n<p>This is the third year for the conference, which is named after the retired U.S. senator. NMSU\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/domenici.nmsu.edu\/institute.html\" target=\"_blank\">Domenici Institute<\/a> aims to bring together top experts to focus on significant national issues. Past speakers have included U.S. Homeland Security Secretary\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2009\/09\/napolitano-u-s-committed-to-breaking-up-cartels\/\" target=\"_blank\">Janet Napolitano<\/a>, U.S. Sen. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2008\/08\/dodd-says-washington-needs-more-pete-domenicis\/\">Chris Dodd<\/a> and U.S. Sen. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2009\/09\/key-senate-dem-continues-to-oppose-public-option\/\">Mary Landrieu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To register for the conference, which will be held Sept. 1 and 2, click <a href=\"http:\/\/domenici.nmsu.edu\/2010conference\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update, 11:45 a.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>More details from an NMSU news release:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Fox News\u00a0contributor\u00a0Karl Rove, political analyst and commentator\u00a0Joe Lockhart\u00a0and\u00a0ABC News\u00a0contributor\u00a0Sam Donaldson\u00a0are just a few of the speakers scheduled for the 2010 Domenici Public Policy Conference. Kay Bailey Hutchison, former Sen.\u00a0Sam Nunn,\u00a0Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank\u00a0President Thomas Hoenig\u00a0and other guests Sept. 1-2 at New Mexico State University\u2019s Corbett Center.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe caliber of speakers we\u2019ve lined up for this year\u2019s conference, as with previous years, shows the significance of the issues we plan to address and pays tribute to the legacy of Sen. Pete Domenici in\u00a0New Mexico\u00a0and the nation,\u201d said\u00a0Garrey Carruthers, dean of NMSU\u2019s College of Business and director of NMSU\u2019s Domenici Institute.<\/p>\n<p>This is the third year of the conference, hosted by the Domenici Institute. Named for New Mexico\u2019s longest-serving senator, the institute brings together some of the best minds in the country to focus on significant national issues. This year\u2019s topics will include the financial reform, national security and analysis of the 2010 election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s time for us to join together and take these issues out of politics,\u201d\u00a0Pete Domenici\u00a0said. \u201cThe problems we face are so big, people from both sides need to sit down and say, \u2018We can\u2019t approach this the normal way.\u2019 Some great leadership is needed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As part of the conference, Donaldson will moderate a discussion between Rove and Lockhart, taking an in-depth look at the 2010\u00a0midterm election. Donaldson is a longtime newsman who began working for ABC News in the late 1970s and later went on to host a number of news programs for the network. Rove served as\u00a0deputy chief of staff\u00a0and senior adviser to former\u00a0President George W. Bush. He is also a columnist for the\u00a0Wall Street Journal\u00a0and\u00a0Newsweek. Lockhart served as press secretary for\u00a0former President Bill Clinton\u00a0from 1998-2000. He is now a political analyst and commentator.<\/p>\n<p>Kay Bailey Hutchison\u00a0is the first &#8211; and, to date, the only &#8211; woman elected to represent Texas in the\u00a0U.S. Senate. She is the senior Republican on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation. Additionally, she serves on the\u00a0Appropriations Committee, the Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs and the Committee on Rules and Administration.<\/p>\n<p>Sam Nunn is co-chairman and CEO of the Nuclear Threat Initiative, a\u00a0charitable organization\u00a0working to reduce the global threats from nuclear, biological and chemical weapons. He served as a U.S. senator from\u00a0Georgia\u00a0for 24 years from 1972 to 1996. During his tenure in the Senate, he served as chairman of the\u00a0Senate Armed Services Committee\u00a0and the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas Hoenig\u00a0is the chief executive of the Tenth District Federal Reserve Bank in\u00a0Kansas City, Mo., and will speak on financial reform.
