{"id":1958,"date":"2007-07-10T16:35:00","date_gmt":"2007-07-10T22:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/07\/homans-to-join-rubber-recycling-company\/"},"modified":"2007-07-10T16:35:00","modified_gmt":"2007-07-10T22:35:00","slug":"homans-to-join-rubber-recycling-company","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/07\/homans-to-join-rubber-recycling-company\/","title":{"rendered":"Homans to join rubber recycling company"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/RpQJ3yuSXhI\/AAAAAAAACzM\/ZS_ojsztZik\/s1600-h\/Homans,+Rick.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/RpQJ3yuSXhI\/AAAAAAAACzM\/ZS_ojsztZik\/s200\/Homans,+Rick.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5085700733321502226\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>Rick Homans is leaving his job as director of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spaceportamerica.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">New Mexico Spaceport Authority<\/a> to work for a Malaysia-based company that plans to build a rubber recycling plant in <st1:city st=\"on\">Gallup<\/st1:city> and its <st1:country-region st=\"on\">U.S.<\/st1:country-region> headquarters in <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Albuquerque<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The state\u2019s Economic Development Department announced today that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.petragroup.net\/html\/environmental.html\" target=\"_blank\">The Petra Group<\/a> plans to house both facilities in <st1:state st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:state>, and will make a formal announcement Wednesday in <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Albuquerque<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>. Michael Henningsen, spokesman for the department, confirmed that Homans would join the company, and said he would release more details later today in a news release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Homans said he could not comment until after that happens.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The company has its fingers in a lot of projects, but one of its divisions focuses on environmental technology. According to its Web site, the company\u2019s rubber recycling techniques can create reusable rubber at a third of the cost of similar rubber compounds on the market.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Interestingly, actor <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mel_Gibson\" target=\"_blank\">Mel Gibson<\/a> is apparently an investor in the company. According to an article in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gallupindependent.com\/2007\/may\/051207zp_melgibsonvstsglp.html\" target=\"_blank\">Gallup Independent<\/a>, he and three business associates were in <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Gallup<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> in May to check out a potential site to locate the plant.
