The congressional candidates\u2019 second-quarter finance reports reveal no big surprises that change expectations in any of the races.<\/p>\n

That means momentum still leans slightly \u2013 but only slightly \u2013 in Republican Steve Pearce\u2019s<\/a> favor in his bid to unseat Democratic U.S. Rep. Harry Teague<\/a> in the 2nd Congressional District race. It means Democratic U.S. Rep. Martin Heinrich<\/a> is still favored to win re-election in the 1st District, but, as expected, Republican Jon Barela<\/a> is becoming more of a threat. And it means Democratic U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Luj\u00e1n<\/a> is sitting pretty on lots more cash than his GOP challenger Tom Mullins<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In the 2nd District race, Pearce outraised Teague \u2013 again.\u00a0 From April 1 to June 30, Pearce raised $462,665 to Teague\u2019s $317,000. Teague still has more cash on hand, with almost $150,000 more in the bank than Pearce, but Pearce has been gaining on Teague with each report and has nearly closed the gap. Teague had $1,170,463 on hand on June 30. Pearce had $1,023,577.<\/p>\n

In the 1st District race, Heinrich raised $376,372 to Barela\u2019s $244,197. Heinrich had lots more cash on hand \u2013 $ 1,301,624 to Barela\u2019s $536,828 \u2013 on June 30. But that\u2019s an improvement for Barela.<\/p>\n

In the 3rd District race, Luj\u00e1n raised $104,392 to Mullins\u2019 $47,126. Luj\u00e1n had $416,139 in the bank to Mullins\u2019 $35,635 on June 30.<\/p>\n
