In a sharp rebuke, Gov. Susana Martinez said Saturday that her party’s presidential nominee, Donald Trump, has displayed “a pattern of disturbing conduct and offensive rhetoric” and she “will not support” him.<\/p>\n

“What Trump brags about is appalling and completely unacceptable,” Martinez said, referring to a 2005 video released Friday<\/a> in which Trump talks about trying unsuccessfully to have sex with a married woman and claims to kiss and grab women “by the pussy” without their consent.<\/p>\n

“Unfortunately, there is a pattern of disturbing conduct and offensive rhetoric that raises serious questions about his fitness to be president,” Martinez, a Republican, said. “That’s why I have withheld my support from the very beginning and will not support him now.”<\/p>\n

Martinez, who chairs the national Republican Governor\u2019s Association, didn’t say if she will vote for one of the other candidates\u00a0in the presidential race.<\/p>\n

While many other Republican holdouts, such as Ted Cruz<\/a>, have ended up endorsing Trump in recent months, Martinez refused to back her party’s nominee\u00a0even as he sought her support. Their relationship has been rocky, at best. Trump\u00a0criticized Martinez\u00a0at a campaign rally he held in Albuquerque in May.<\/a>\u00a0At that rally, Trump said the governor\u00a0\u201chas got to do a better job\u201d to improve New Mexico.<\/p>\n

The next day, Martinez fired back.<\/p>\n

\u201cGovernor Martinez doesn\u2019t care about what Donald Trump says about her,\u201d Martinez spokesman\u00a0Mike Lonergan said. \u201cShe cares about what he says he will do to help New Mexicans. \u2026\u00a0She\u2019s disappointed that she didn\u2019t hear anything about that last night.\u201d<\/p>\n

Martinez endorsed Marco Rubio<\/a>\u00a0in March in the GOP presidential primary. Months later, she did show up to help cast New Mexico\u2019s votes for Trump\u00a0in July<\/a> at the Republican National Convention.<\/p>\n

Some were saying on social media<\/a> this weekend that Martinez had been smart to not endorse Trump.<\/p>\n

Shortly after Martinez released her statement, state Sen. Joseph Cervantes, D-Las Cruces, thanked her in a tweet<\/a>. “Thank you Governor Martinez. Just learned of statement you will not be voting for D. Trump,” he wrote. Earlier Saturday, Cervantes tweeted<\/a> a plea\u00a0for Martinez to “condemn Trump’s misogyny & disavow him.”<\/p>\n

In the 2005 video, which was first released\u00a0by the Washington Post<\/a>, Trump can be heard talking about trying unsuccessfully to have sex with a married woman,\u00a0saying he \u201cmoved on her like a bitch.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump can also be heard\u00a0saying\u00a0he is \u201cautomatically attracted to beautiful \u2014 I just start kissing them. It\u2019s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don\u2019t even wait.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd when you\u2019re a star, they let you do it,\u201d Trump says. \u201cYou can do anything.\u00a0Grab them by the pussy.\u00a0You can do anything.\u201d<\/p>\n
