Though Edwards is ahead in polls in most other states, the two are essentially tied in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New   Hampshire<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Now, according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/s\/ap\/20070705\/ap_on_el_pr\/on_the2008_trail_15\" target=\"_blank\">Associated Press<\/a>, Edwards plans to add two prominent Democrats as senior advisers and take some responsibilities away from Campaign Manager David Bonior.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The two Democrats, leaders of a labor-backed anti-Wal-Mart group, could join the campaign as early as next week, the news service reported, with one running day-to-day campaign operations and the other serving as communications director.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Bonior would keep his title but become more of a public spokesman who would travel with Edwards.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The changes could help Edwards among union supporters, which will be critical in states like <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Nevada<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city>, meanwhile, appears focused on overtaking Edwards in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New   Hampshire<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The governor visited <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?f=q&#038;hl=en&amp;amp;amp;geocode=&#038;q=marlow,+n.h.&amp;ie=UTF8&#038;ll=43.14709,-72.198029&amp;spn=0.455885,0.925598&#038;z=10&amp;iwloc=addr&#038;om=1\" target=\"_blank\">Marlow, N.H.<\/a>, on Thursday. According to the <a href=\"http:\/\/hosted.ap.org\/dynamic\/stories\/R\/RICHARDSON_FIRST_VISIT?SITE=NMALJ&amp;SECTION=HOME&amp;TEMPLATE=DEFAULT\" target=\"_blank\">Associated Press<\/a>, President <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/William_Howard_Taft\" target=\"_blank\">William Howard Taft<\/a> planned to pass through the town in 1912, but took a wrong turn and never arrived. That was the closest the community, with a population of 800, came to seeing a president or presidential candidate until Thursday, when <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> met with 100 people there.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">It was, in part, a publicity stunt, but I\u2019m sure it also meant a lot to those 100 people. And while most of the top presidential candidates spent the Fourth of July in <st1:state st=\"on\">Iowa<\/st1:state>, <st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city> was the only Democratic candidate at a prominent parade in <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:state st=\"on\">New Hampshire<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>, according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boston.com\/news\/nation\/articles\/2007\/07\/04\/richardson_joins_nh_parades_campaigns\/\" target=\"_blank\">Boston Globe<\/a> \u2013 another smart move that earned him some publicity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The next polls in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New   Hampshire<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> will be interesting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Following a fundraising quarter in which he let Bill Richardson gain some significant ground on him in the presidential race, John Edwards is making some major changes to his campaign.
