Whether the Democratic lawmaker from Ribera is a target of the investigation is unknown.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Speaker of the House <a href=\"http:\/\/legis.state.nm.us\/lcs\/legdetails.asp?Name=204&amp;Submit=Search\" target=\"_blank\">Ben Lujan<\/a> announced the change in a news release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI very much appreciate Representative Vigil\u2019s request to be reassigned in light of the pending case involving his wife,\u201d Lujan said in the release. \u201cI will reassign him to other committees so that he can continue to represent the interests of his constituents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Vigil made the request, according to the speaker\u2019s release, \u201cto ensure that the respect and integrity of the institution is maintained\u201d and to \u201cavoid even the appearance of impropriety.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">It\u2019s interesting and refreshing to see Vigil and the speaker out in front on this one. Last week, GOP leaders said Vigil should be allowed to remain on the committee for the time being, though they\u2019re keeping a close watch on the pending investigation to see whether he is implicated in the scandal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Vigil has referred questions to his attorney, who has not called me back.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rep.
