Barreras Jr.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI stand for fairness and accountability,\u201d Wellborn wrote in an e-mail. \u201cMrs. Kuykendall has been relieved of her responsibilities as my campaign treasurer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Asked to elaborate, he responded with this:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWhen I say I stand for fairness, I mean that ALL people should be treated fairly \u2013 that email was definitely inappropriate.\u00a0When I say I stand for accountability, I mean that there are consequences for poor decisions. In this instance, fairness and accountability meant replacing my campaign treasurer.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Wellborn, like Kuykendall, is a prosecutor in the office of Do\u00f1a Ana County District Attorney <a href=\"http:\/\/www.susanamartinez2010.com\/\">Susana Martinez<\/a>, the GOP candidate for governor. He\u2019s taking on District Judge <a href=\"http:\/\/keepjudgearrieta.net\/\">Mannie Arrieta<\/a>, a Democrat, in November.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Martinez reprimanded Kuykendall for forwarding the e-mail after being alerted about the situation earlier this week by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lcsun-news.com\/las_cruces-news\/ci_15407987\">The Associated Press<\/a>. Martinez has been criticized by Democrats for not firing Kuykendall.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier today, the AP reported in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.santafenewmexican.com\/LocalNews\/State-worker-disciplined-over-immigrant-joke\">a new article<\/a> that the employee of the Administrative Office of the District Attorneys who forwarded the e-mail to Kuykendall, Brandy Toward, has also been disciplined.<\/p>\n<p>The e-mail starts with a Mexican man, an Arab man and a New Mexican girl in a bar drinking beer (nonalcoholic for the Arab because he\u2019s a Muslim). Both men shoot their glasses with guns.
