{"id":1766,"date":"2007-05-23T11:27:00","date_gmt":"2007-05-23T17:27:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/05\/another-poll-confirms-growing-support-for-richardson\/"},"modified":"2007-05-23T11:27:00","modified_gmt":"2007-05-23T17:27:00","slug":"another-poll-confirms-growing-support-for-richardson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/05\/another-poll-confirms-growing-support-for-richardson\/","title":{"rendered":"Another poll confirms growing support for Richardson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/RlR6D4rd23I\/AAAAAAAACZg\/bBBexw-GSag\/s1600-h\/Richardsonforpresident.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/RlR6D4rd23I\/AAAAAAAACZg\/bBBexw-GSag\/s200\/Richardsonforpresident.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5067809687871544178\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>Another poll has confirmed Gov. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.richardsonforpresident.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bill Richardson\u2019s<\/a> growing popularity in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Iowa<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Support for <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> in the first state to hold a presidential nominating contest is at 9 percent, according to conservative polling company <a href=\"http:\/\/strategicvision.biz\/political\/iowa_poll_052307.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Strategic Vision<\/a>. <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> isn\u2019t far behind <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hillaryclinton.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hillary Clinton<\/a>, who came in third among Democrats in the poll at 16 percent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The poll, conducted May 18-20, surveyed 600 likely Democratic caucus goers and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">A poll conducted by the <a href=\"http:\/\/desmoinesregister.com\/apps\/pbcs.dll\/section?category=iowapoll07\" target=\"_blank\">Des Moines Register<\/a> between May 12 and 16 had <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> at 10 percent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnedwards.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">John Edwards<\/a> led the field of Democrats in the newest poll with 29 percent, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.barackobama.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Barack Obama<\/a> was second with 24 percent. No other candidate had more than 3 percent, and undecideds accounted for 16 percent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The Register poll had Edwards at 29 percent, Obama at 23 percent and Clinton at 21 percent, so the only significant difference between the two polls is in support for <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Clinton<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>. What\u2019s certain is that her popularity in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Iowa<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> has dropped in recent weeks. Though she\u2019s gaining ground in a number of others states, <st1:state st=\"on\">Iowa<\/st1:state>\u2019s caucuses have a big influence on voters around the nation, and her drop there threatens her campaign, just like Edwards\u2019 support in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Iowa<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> is what is keeping his campaign going as he sits in third place in many other states.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> recently gave an interview to YouTube as part of his successful effort to attract a strong base of support through the Internet. You can watch it below. It was posted on May 15 and already has almost 30,000 views. His funny television commercials, which you can view by clicking <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=tjOuL5qwNIc\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>, have been viewed on YouTube almost 155,000 times.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city> plans to increase his media buys in <st1:state st=\"on\">Iowa<\/st1:state> and <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Hampshire<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> in light of his recent gains in polls in those states. Expect him to continue to climb in the polls.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">One note: <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> said in this YouTube interview that he\u2019s not interested in being vice president or secretary of state and said, \u201cIn five years, if I\u2019m not president, I\u2019ll still be governor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">No he won\u2019t.
