{"id":17261,"date":"2010-05-13T13:42:46","date_gmt":"2010-05-13T19:42:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/?p=17261"},"modified":"2010-05-13T13:42:47","modified_gmt":"2010-05-13T19:42:47","slug":"video-heinrich-co-sponsors-bill-to-increase-campaign-finance-transparency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2010\/05\/video-heinrich-co-sponsors-bill-to-increase-campaign-finance-transparency\/","title":{"rendered":"VIDEO: Heinrich co-sponsors bill to increase campaign finance transparency"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_12958\"  class=\"wp-caption module image alignright\" style=\"max-width: 120px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12958\" title=\"Heinrich-Martin2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Heinrich-Martin2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"120\" height=\"160\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Martin Heinrich<\/p><\/div>\n<p>U.S. Rep. <a href=\"http:\/\/heinrich.house.gov\/\">Martin Heinrich<\/a>, D-N.M., is touting today the fact that he\u2019s a cosponsor of major transparency legislation.<\/p>\n<p>Heinrich is a cosponsor of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.govtrack.us\/congress\/bill.xpd?bill=h111-5175\">DISCLOSE Act<\/a>, which a news release from his office said would \u201cestablish the toughest-ever disclosure requirements for election-related spending by big oil corporations, Wall Street banks and other special interests.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe bill would increase transparency and disclosure of political spending so voters know who is trying to influence them in elections, keep foreign companies from influencing America\u2019s elections, and ensure that corporations that took money in the Bush bailout can\u2019t turn around and spend that money in elections,\u201d the release states.<\/p>\n<p>The legislation is a direct response to the Supreme Court\u2019s recent ruling in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Citizens_United_v._Federal_Election_Commission\">Citizens United v.
