Johnson was quick to point out that the newspaper stated the gift was from a Matt Johnston, with a \u201ct,\u201d and wasn\u2019t him, according to an article published Sunday in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wacotrib.com\/news\/content\/news\/stories\/2007\/05\/13\/05132007wacmattjohnson.html\" target=\"_blank\">Waco Tribune-Herald<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">But the Republican judge kept getting calls all week, and he became concerned because the judicial code of conduct prohibits judges from publicly endorsing candidates. He wanted people to know he hadn\u2019t given <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> any money.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">As he dug deeper, he found something more disturbing, the newspaper reported.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The address attached to the donation on <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>\u2019s finance report is Johnson\u2019s previous residence, which he moved from in August 2005. The donor is also listed as a self-employed attorney, which Johnson was before he was elected as a judge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The local sheriff in <st1:city st=\"on\">Waco<\/st1:city> is looking into the matter, and will start by asking the <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> campaign for more information on the donor, the newspaper reported.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A state judge in Waco, Texas, wants to know why someone gave $2,300 to the presidential campaign of Gov.
