McClure<\/a> is leaving to take the position of president and CEO of the <a href=\"http:\/\/aci-nm.org\/aci\/Content\/default.asp\" target=\"_blank\">Association of Commerce and Industry<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">She\u2019ll begin her new job in June, and the governor plans to appoint a search committee to find a replacement. Former New Mexico State University Provost <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmsu.edu\/provost\/about.html\" target=\"_blank\">Bill Flores<\/a> was recently named deputy secretary of higher education, but he\u2019s intent on staying in <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Las Cruces<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> and may not be interested in the department\u2019s top job in Santa Fe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201c<st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:state st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:state><\/st1:place> is fortunate to have someone of Dr. McClure\u2019s stature and experience,\u201d Gov. <a href=\"http:\/\/governor.state.nm.us\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bill Richardson<\/a> said in a news release. \u201cI know that ACI will benefit from Beverlee\u2019s leadership and I look forward to working with her in her new role. Together we will continue to strengthen the ties between economic development and higher education.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">McClure was the first cabinet secretary of higher education since the department was created in 2005.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI am pleased to have the opportunity to lead (ACI) as we continue to strengthen and build a healthy and prospering business climate for <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:state st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>,\u201d McClure said in the release. \u201cI am committed to furthering the partnerships between the education and business communities.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Higher Education Secretary Beverlee J.
