Right after he entered the governor\u2019s race in June 2009, Republican Doug Turner<\/a> described himself in an interview with me as a moderate Republican<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now Turner claims he never said that.<\/p>\n

\u201cI never described myself as that,\u201d Turner was quoted as saying in a weekend profile published by The Santa Fe New Mexican<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m actually pretty conservative. Bloggers have described me as moderate.\u201d<\/p>\n

I stand by what I reported. I\u2019m not surprised that Turner isn\u2019t using the label any more \u2013 many of the candidates have stopped using certain phrases as they\u2019ve honed their messages \u2013 but I am certain he called himself \u201cmoderate\u201d in June 2009.<\/p>\n

Anyway, on to more interesting things. The New Mexican and Albuquerque Journal published a number of articles related to the gubernatorial race and other primary contests this weekend.<\/p>\n
