{"id":1702,"date":"2007-05-10T10:30:00","date_gmt":"2007-05-10T16:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/05\/richardson-climbs-in-polls-but-not-as-fast-as-clinton\/"},"modified":"2007-05-10T10:30:00","modified_gmt":"2007-05-10T16:30:00","slug":"richardson-climbs-in-polls-but-not-as-fast-as-clinton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/05\/richardson-climbs-in-polls-but-not-as-fast-as-clinton\/","title":{"rendered":"Richardson climbs in polls, but not as fast as Clinton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/RkNI7cC6zdI\/AAAAAAAACRo\/2UMe9BHYnU4\/s1600-h\/Richardsonforpresident.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/RkNI7cC6zdI\/AAAAAAAACRo\/2UMe9BHYnU4\/s200\/Richardsonforpresident.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5062970592072486354\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>After showing gains in polls in <st1:state st=\"on\">Iowa<\/st1:state> and <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:state st=\"on\">Nevada<\/st1:state><\/st1:place> in recent weeks, Gov. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.richardsonforpresident.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bill Richardson<\/a> is slowly climbing in polls conducted this week in three additional states.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">But he\u2019s still below the margin of error in <st1:state st=\"on\">California<\/st1:state>, <st1:state st=\"on\">Florida<\/st1:state> and <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Michigan<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The newest polls, conducted by <a href=\"http:\/\/americanresearchgroup.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">American Research Group<\/a>, have <st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city> at 3 percent in <a href=\"http:\/\/americanresearchgroup.com\/pres08\/cadem8-702.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">California<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/americanresearchgroup.com\/pres08\/fldem8-703.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">Florida<\/a> and 2 percent in <a href=\"http:\/\/americanresearchgroup.com\/pres08\/midem8-703.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">Michigan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">That\u2019s up from 1 percent in each of those states the last time surveys were done &#8211; January in <st1:state st=\"on\">California<\/st1:state> and <st1:state st=\"on\">Florida<\/st1:state> and February in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Michigan<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>. By contrast, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hillaryclinton.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hillary Clinton<\/a> gained 1 percent in <st1:state st=\"on\">California<\/st1:state>, 9 percent in <st1:state st=\"on\">Florida<\/st1:state> and 3 percent in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Michigan<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The newest polls in <st1:state st=\"on\">California<\/st1:state> and <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Florida<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> were conducted between Friday and Tuesday. Each surveyed 600 likely Democratic caucus goers and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent. The <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Michigan<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> poll was conducted between Friday and Monday. It also surveyed 600 and has a margin of error of 4 percent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">In each of the three states, <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Clinton<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> had a significant lead. She had 37 percent in <st1:state st=\"on\">California<\/st1:state>, 45 percent in <st1:state st=\"on\">Florida<\/st1:state> and 38 percent in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Michigan<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.barackobama.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Barack Obama<\/a> had 28 percent in <st1:state st=\"on\">California<\/st1:state>, 17 percent in <st1:state st=\"on\">Florida<\/st1:state> and 25 percent in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Michigan<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnedwards.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">John Edwards<\/a> had 15 percent in <st1:state st=\"on\">California<\/st1:state> and <st1:state st=\"on\">Florida<\/st1:state> and 14 percent in <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:state st=\"on\">Michigan<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city> was fourth in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">California<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>. He and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.joebiden.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Joe Biden<\/a> were tied for fourth in <st1:state st=\"on\">Florida<\/st1:state> and Biden was fourth in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Michigan<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> with 3 percent. But, while <st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city> has gained support in all three states, Biden has lost half his support in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Florida<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> since the last poll. <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Undecideds accounted for 11 percent in the <st1:state st=\"on\">California<\/st1:state> poll and 14 percent in the <st1:state st=\"on\">Florida<\/st1:state> and <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Michigan<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> polls.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">This is a generalization, but it appears that Clinton, who has been at the top all along, is gaining support across the nation, while Obama and Edwards are steadily in second and third place, respectively, but not gaining a lot. <st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city> is climbing, but not as quickly as <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Clinton<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> is increasing her lead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p style=\"font-style: italic;\" class=\"MsoNormal\">A prior version of this posting incorrectly stated that Richardson and Biden are competing for third place in the three states, when they\u2019re actually competing for fourth place.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After showing gains in polls in Iowa and Nevada in recent weeks, Gov.
