{"id":1694,"date":"2007-05-09T08:05:00","date_gmt":"2007-05-09T14:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/05\/costner-to-film-presidential-election-movie-in-n-m\/"},"modified":"2007-05-09T08:05:00","modified_gmt":"2007-05-09T14:05:00","slug":"costner-to-film-presidential-election-movie-in-n-m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/05\/costner-to-film-presidential-election-movie-in-n-m\/","title":{"rendered":"Costner to film presidential election movie in N.M."},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\">As <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:state st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>\u2019s film industry continues to grow, the newest project is interesting because of its subject.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The state announced on Tuesday that <a style=\"font-style: italic;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.variety.com\/article\/VR1117964446.html?categoryid=13&#038;cs=1\" target=\"_blank\">Swing Vote<\/a><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">,<\/span> produced by and starring <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kevin_Costner\" target=\"_blank\">Kevin Costner<\/a>, will begin filming in Belen and Albuquerque on July 23.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The movie follows Bud Johnson, \u201can apathetic, working class, single father who is thrust onto the world stage after the presidential election comes down to a single vote \u2013 his,\u201d a news release from the governor\u2019s office states. \u201cProdded by his idealistic 12-year old daughter, Bud struggles to make the right choice while being pandered to by politicians who will say and do anything to win.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The movie is the first from Costner\u2019s newly formed production company, Treehouse Films.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cWe warmly welcome Mr. Costner and Treehouse Films to <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:state st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>,\u201d Gov. <a href=\"http:\/\/governor.state.nm.us\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bill Richardson<\/a> said in the release. \u201cThe subject matter of this project is also of some interest to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">I\u2019m sure it is.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As New Mexico\u2019s film industry continues to grow, the newest project is interesting because of its subject.
