Chavez resigned today, citing, according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqjournal.com\/abqnews\/abqnewseeker-mainmenu-39\/20990-breaking-nm-insurance-superintendent-resigns.html\">The Associated Press<\/a>, \u201csad and derogatory\u201d comments as the reason.<\/p>\n<p>Chavez said he\u2019d been the target of such comments posted online following the recent battle in the Blue Cross Blue Shield rate hike case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t realize that people could be so mean-spirited when they don\u2019t understand my job or the job I have to do according to the law,\u201d the news service quoted Chavez as saying.<\/p>\n<p>A news release from the Public Regulation Commission states that PRC members have appointed Deputy Superintendent Thomas Rushton to fill the job on an interim basis.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>State Insurance Superintendent Morris J.
