Another major issue is what areas should become protected wilderness areas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The City of <st1:city st=\"on\">Las Cruces<\/st1:city>\u2019 planning department recently sent to <st1:place st=\"on\">Southern New Mexico<\/st1:place>\u2019s congressman and senators a report that reveals the division that exists. U.S. Sen. <a href=\"http:\/\/domenici.senate.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pete Domenici<\/a> had hoped the report would serve as the basis for federal legislation that would resolve the dispute over what federal land would become wilderness areas.
