{"id":1628,"date":"2007-04-24T11:58:00","date_gmt":"2007-04-24T17:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/04\/santa-fean-steps-up-to-run-against-domenici\/"},"modified":"2007-04-24T11:58:00","modified_gmt":"2007-04-24T17:58:00","slug":"santa-fean-steps-up-to-run-against-domenici","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/04\/santa-fean-steps-up-to-run-against-domenici\/","title":{"rendered":"Santa Fean steps up to run against Domenici"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/Ri5Fhz3FTBI\/AAAAAAAACHA\/XXZ_nu4nsZk\/s1600-h\/Hannan,+Jim.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/Ri5Fhz3FTBI\/AAAAAAAACHA\/XXZ_nu4nsZk\/s200\/Hannan,+Jim.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5057055878742887442\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>Though many Democrats are still talking about who should take on U.S. Sen. <a href=\"http:\/\/domenici.senate.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pete Domenici<\/a>, R-N.M., in 2008, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jimhannan.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jim Hannan<\/a> wants you to know he\u2019s a serious candidate.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The Santa Fe Democrat and former staffer to the late U.S. Rep. <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mo_Udall\" target=\"_blank\">Mo Udall<\/a>, D-Ariz., has a Web site up and is already sending out news releases about his campaign. <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">According to his Web site, voters will \u201csee two very different campaigns.\u201d Domenici is already raising funds, plans to spent $3 million to $5 million, and will run television advertisements.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI\u2019ll be spending the next year differently,\u201d Hannan\u2019s Web site states. \u201cI\u2019ll be using this Web site a lot, to bring you up to date on the campaign and the issues. I\u2019m also planning to walk door to door as much as I can with a full time job. I can tell you that I don\u2019t plan to ruin your favorite TV shows with 30 seconds of negative ads.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Hannan is running on a platform of protecting social security, ending the war in <st1:country-region st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Iraq<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>, slowing global warming and providing health care for all, according to his Web site. He accuses Domenici of representing only corporations and the richest citizens.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI\u2019m worried about our country. I\u2019m concerned that our government is making poor choices,\u201d Hannan states on his Web site. \u201cI want to pass on to my children and grandchildren a better <st1:country-region st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">America<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>. That is why I\u2019m running.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Hannan has not yet filed a notice of his candidacy or any finance reports with the Federal Election Commission, according to the FEC <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fec.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Web site<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Though many Democrats are still talking about who should take on U.S. Sen.
