State statutes require a vote on that annexation between May 16 and June 15, the attorney general said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The council still could have voted on the portion of the project that\u2019s in the city limits at today\u2019s meeting, but opted to consider the entire project at once.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">A representative of the developer and a citizens\u2019 group that has been pushing for a delay to allow more time for public input both agreed to the delay.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Dave Campbell, representing the developer, said he believes there has already been extensive opportunity for public input and he hopes \u201cthe next time that we all join forces on this would be the 21<sup>st<\/sup> of May.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">But District 6 Councilor <a href=\"http:\/\/www.las-cruces.org\/manager\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ken Miyagishima<\/a> said he plans to hold a meeting in his district on the proposal before that meeting. City Manager <a href=\"http:\/\/www.las-cruces.org\/council\/mayor.shtm\" target=\"_blank\">Terrence Moore<\/a> said he has made his office available for small meetings involving citizen groups and the developer, and will sum up the contents of any such meetings at the May 21 meeting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Las Cruces City Council voted this evening to put off consideration of a 6,000-acre development on the East Mesa until May 21.
