That isn\u2019t the case, at least yet.<\/p>\n

The Washington<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> publication Roll Call<\/a>, in an article published today, explains why a number of Hispanic members of Congress aren\u2019t necessarily supporters of the governor\u2019s presidential run, even though he spent 15 years in the House.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

In a story you can only view if you have a subscription (click here<\/a> if you do), the publication reports that Richardson<\/st1:city><\/st1:place> \u201chas made no major outreach efforts in recent months\u201d to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus<\/a>.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>\u2019s deputy campaign manager, Amanda Cooper, told Roll Call that\u2019s because the governor isn\u2019t focused on endorsements right now, and is instead focused on grassroots campaigning<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Another factor, Roll Call reports, is that a number of members pledged support to other candidates before Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> announced on Jan. 21 that he is running.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Reps. Raul Grijalva<\/a>, D-Ariz., and Charlie Gonzalez<\/a>, D-Texas, for example, have already pledged their support for John Edwards<\/a>.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

About half of the 19 members active in the caucus have endorsed candidates, but only one, Rep. Ed Pastor<\/a>, D-Ariz., has picked Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>, Roll Call reports. Rep. Silvestre Reyes<\/a>, D-Texas, has donated $1,000 to Richardson<\/st1:city><\/st1:place>\u2019s campaign, but has not issued an endorsement.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

\u201cBill\u2019s got the most experience of anyone I\u2019ve seen,\u201d Reyes told Roll Call. \u201cI get a chance to talk to him fairly frequently. \u2026 He\u2019s been a good friend and neighbor.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n
