{"id":16117,"date":"2010-04-17T10:30:39","date_gmt":"2010-04-17T16:30:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/?p=16117"},"modified":"2010-04-17T10:32:26","modified_gmt":"2010-04-17T16:32:26","slug":"spaceport-director-submits-his-resignation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2010\/04\/spaceport-director-submits-his-resignation\/","title":{"rendered":"Spaceport director submits his resignation"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_16118\"  class=\"wp-caption module image alignright\" style=\"max-width: 120px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-16118\" title=\"Landeene, Steve\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Landeene-Steve.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"120\" height=\"160\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Steve Landeene<\/p><\/div>\n<p>New Mexico Spaceport Authority Executive Director <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spaceportamerica.com\/about-us\/spaceport-authority\/exec-director.html\">Steve Landeene<\/a> is leaving his job after more than two years in the post.<\/p>\n<p>Landeene led the authority through the final steps of securing a commercial spaceport license and other approvals needed to ensure that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spaceportamerica.com\/\">Spaceport America<\/a> becomes a reality.<\/p>\n<p>The final step was securing legislative approval earlier this year for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmlegis.gov\/lcs\/_session.aspx?Chamber=S&amp;LegType=B&amp;LegNo=9&amp;year=10\">a bill<\/a> requiring that passengers sign a waiver agreeing to hold companies harmless before traveling into space from the Southern New Mexico spaceport.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the Spaceflight Informed Consent Act signed into law on February 27th, the last major element solidifying Spaceport America reality has been accomplished,\u201d Landeene wrote in <a href=\"http:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/Documents\/LandeeneResignation.pdf\">his resignation letter<\/a>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI now have a need to regain some work\/life balance that can not be accomplished given the current stresses and time commitments of the Spaceport America Executive Director role,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Landeene, who was hired in January 2008, submitted his resignation on Friday.
