U.S. Rep. Martin Heinrich<\/p><\/div>\n

U.S. Rep. Martin Heinrich<\/a>, D-N.M., raised $300,233.83 for his re-election campaign in the first three months of the year, finishing the fundraising quarter with more than $1 million in the bank.<\/p>\n

Heinrich raised $210,533.83 from individuals and $89,700 from political action committees during the quarter, according to the report<\/a> he filed with the Federal Election Commission.<\/p>\n

From January to March, Heinrich\u2019s campaign spent $90,122.64. The campaign ended the reporting period with $1,044,744.42 on hand.<\/p>\n

In a letter to supporters, Heinrich wrote that 87 percent of his more than 1,200 contributions came from New Mexico, 95 percent came from individuals and 69 percent were for $100 or less.<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks to you, we are sending a clear message that we\u2019re up to the challenge and willing to fight to hold this seat,\u201d he wrote. \u201c\u2026 As you can see, a strong grassroots effort is propelling this campaign forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Heinrich has now raised a total of $1,385,121.10 for his re-election campaign.<\/p>\n

Finance reports are due today in federal races. The two candidates challenging Heinrich, Republican Jon Barela<\/a> and Green Party candidate Alan Woodruff<\/a>, haven\u2019t yet filed reports.<\/p>\n

In the previous fundraising quarter \u2013 October to December 2009 \u2013 Heinrich raised $234,372.63, while Barela raised $113,070. At the end of 2009, Heinrich had raised a total of $1.084 million for his re-election campaign to Barela\u2019s $293,909.77.<\/p>\n

Woodruff didn\u2019t file a report at the end of the fourth quarter of 2009, indicating he hadn\u2019t yet passed the $5,000 fundraising threshold that requires a report be filed with the FEC.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
