{"id":1586,"date":"2007-04-16T10:59:00","date_gmt":"2007-04-16T16:59:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/04\/richardson-winning-in-n-m-poll-but-not-by-much\/"},"modified":"2007-04-16T10:59:00","modified_gmt":"2007-04-16T16:59:00","slug":"richardson-winning-in-n-m-poll-but-not-by-much","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/04\/richardson-winning-in-n-m-poll-but-not-by-much\/","title":{"rendered":"Richardson winning in N.M. poll, but not by much"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/RiOrp1y3EOI\/AAAAAAAAB94\/lA4zfHfoJ3o\/s1600-h\/Richardsonforpresident.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/RiOrp1y3EOI\/AAAAAAAAB94\/lA4zfHfoJ3o\/s200\/Richardsonforpresident.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5054071942143217890\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>A new poll conducted by students in a <st1:placename st=\"on\">New  Mexico<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">State<\/st1:placetype> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">University<\/st1:placetype> government class shows that Gov. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.richardsonforpresident.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bill Richardson<\/a> can\u2019t even take <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:state st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:state><\/st1:place> for granted in his presidential run.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The poll, conducted by students in Jose Garcia\u2019s political research skills course, found that 33 percent of Democrats in <st1:state st=\"on\">New  Mexico<\/st1:state> preferred <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>, while <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hillaryclinton.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hillary Clinton<\/a> had support of 23 percent, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.barackobama.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Barack Obama<\/a> had 19 percent and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnedwards.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">John Edwards<\/a> had 18 percent, according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lcsun-news.com\/news\/ci_5656052\" target=\"_blank\">Las Cruces Sun-News<\/a>. The remainder selected \u201cother\u201d or were undecided, the newspaper reported.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Among Republicans surveyed, 34 percent favored <a href=\"http:\/\/www.joinrudy2008.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rudy Giuliani<\/a>, 23 percent favored <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnmccain.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">John McCain<\/a>, 9 percent favored <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mittromney.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mitt Romney<\/a> and 37 percent favored another candidate or were undecided.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The survey of 205 New Mexicans was conducted April 3-7 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 7 percent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">When the students put all the candidates in the mix and asked all respondents who they favored, regardless of party affiliation, <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> also came out on top, with 17 percent favoring him, the Sun-News reported.
