Their terms will expire at the end of 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats nominated Isabela Solis instead of Hancock in a three-way primary. With all voting centers\u00a0reporting, Solis\u00a0had 54 percent of the vote to Hancock&#8217;s 36 percent and 10 percent for David Bonner.<\/p>\n<p>Solis will face Republican William Webb in November, who won his own primary against Roman Jimenez\u00a0on Tuesday with 68 percent of the vote.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am honored that the people of Do\u00f1a Ana County came out to vote,&#8221; Solis told NMPolitics.net. &#8220;&#8230; This win belongs to the people of Do\u00f1a Ana. As they stepped into the voting booth they voted for growth. Growth always precedes change.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In District 2, Ramon Gonzalez won\u00a0with 60 percent of the vote to Garcia&#8217;s 40 percent. We were passing out our\u00a0fliers and\u00a0talking to people. I&#8217;m very pleased at how it all turned out.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Alex Cotoia, who ran unsuccessfully against Garcia four years ago, attributed Garcia&#8217;s loss to &#8220;his own failure to engage the constituency he made a lot of promises to in 2012.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve watched my former opponent Commissioner Garcia carefully over the past four years with high hopes,&#8221; Cotoia <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/haussamen\/posts\/10101105727036441?comment_id=10101105733967551&amp;comment_tracking=%7B%22tn%22%3A%22R%22%7D\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a>. &#8220;I&#8217;m a bit disheartened by his lack of engagement on issues that are critical to south county residents beyond blanket statements about the importance of public infrastructure.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Three of five county commissioners will be new in 2017. District 5&#8217;s Leticia Duarte-Benavidez was term-limited from running again. John Vasquez won\u00a0a three-way primary for the Democratic nomination for that seat on Tuesday with 43 percent of the vote. Republican Kim Hakes won\u00a0a two-person Republican primary with 58 percent of the vote.<\/p>\n<p><em>A prior version of this posting incorrectly stated that the ousted incumbents&#8217; terms would expire at the end of 2015, not 2016.
