The questions: What would Sanders, who has committed to staying in the contest through the party&#8217;s convention, do next? And what would Sanders&#8217; supporters do?<\/p>\n<p>Anthony Lopez of Santa Fe, a Sanders supporter, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/haussamen\/posts\/10101105541877501?comment_id=10101105545320601&amp;comment_tracking=%7B%22tn%22%3A%22R3%22%7D\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a> he will support any decision Sanders makes about continuing or ending his presidential campaign. Lopez sees what&#8217;s likely ahead, and says he&#8217;s leaning toward supporting the Green Party&#8217;s presidential candidate, Jill Stein, in November &#8212; but he said Clinton is also a possibility.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m not totally opposed, but I would prefer to vote for a candidate I believe in, not for a candidate because they&#8217;re not as bad as their opposition,&#8221; Lopez said. &#8220;&#8230;\u00a0The thought of (Republican Donald) Trump as president is scary though, so I could be persuaded to support Clinton in November.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Judy Furr of Las Cruces, on the other hand, was celebrating Clinton&#8217;s victory.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s Hillary at our house,&#8221; she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/haussamen\/posts\/10101105541877501?comment_id=10101105549132961&amp;comment_tracking=%7B%22tn%22%3A%22R9%22%7D\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a>. &#8220;&#8230;\u00a0I know that if Donald Trump is elected president of this country we are doomed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Some <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Presidential_election_in_New_Mexico,_2016\" target=\"_blank\">43 delegates<\/a> to the Democratic National Convention were\u00a0up for grabs in New Mexico. Nine are so-called superdelegates who can support whichever candidate they want\u00a0\u2014 seven\u00a0have pledged support for Clinton \u2014 and the other 34 will be\u00a0awarded proportionately\u00a0once final results are tallied.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Daniel Kim of Las Cruces <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/haussamen\/posts\/10101105541877501?comment_id=10101105558484221&amp;comment_tracking=%7B%22tn%22%3A%22R9%22%7D\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a> he voted for Sanders, but will support Clinton in November.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If Clinton is nominated, I will do my part to elect her president,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mike Johnson of Santa Fe, who voted for Sanders, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/haussamen\/posts\/10101105541877501?comment_id=10101105546014211&amp;reply_comment_id=10101105609536911&amp;comment_tracking=%7B%22tn%22%3A%22R9%22%7D\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a> he\u00a0won&#8217;t vote for\u00a0Clinton or Trump, the presumptive GOP nominee, in November.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I will abstain. I can&#8217;t be part of electing either of them. That will be the responsibility of those that elect them, not me,&#8221; Johnson said. &#8220;I want nothing to do with it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Keith Whelpley of Las Cruces voted for Clinton.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I voted for Hillary because she has far more experience than any other candidate,&#8221; he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/haussamen\/posts\/10101105541877501?comment_id=10101105558868451&amp;comment_tracking=%7B%22tn%22%3A%22R8%22%7D\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a>. &#8220;She also knows how to make politics a blood sport and that is what we will need to drop Trump. There will be a time for a socialist, but with Trump so close, the risk was too great to leave it to Bernie.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Jeffrey Lewis of Las Cruces was ready to back Clinton.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<span class=\"UFICommentBody\">I voted for Bernie. That being said I am ready to fully support Hillary,&#8221; he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/haussamen\/posts\/10101105541877501?comment_tracking=%7B%22tn%22%3A%22R%22%7D\" target=\"_blank\">said.<\/a> &#8220;We need to unite and bring our full resources so that we stop Mr. Trump.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Jim O&#8217;Donnell\u00a0agreed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve been a strong Sanders supporter all along. Now I&#8217;m a strong Clinton supporter.
