Polls are open across New Mexico in today’s Democratic and Republican primaries until 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

And in Bernalillo and Do\u00f1a Ana counties, Election Day turnout appears on track to be strong, following the trend of high early voting turnout<\/a>\u00a0statewide this year.<\/p>\n

“We had more than 1,000 voters within the first 15 minutes of polls opening,”\u00a0said Joey Keefe, spokesman for the Bernalillo County Clerk’s Office.<\/p>\n

“Everything is running smoothly so far. No major issues,” Keefe said.<\/p>\n

In Do\u00f1a Ana County, 875 people had voted by 8 a.m., said Chief Deputy Clerk Scott Krahling.<\/p>\n

“Everything is going good. All our locations are\u00a0up and running. Seems like turnout is following the same momentum of early voting,” Krahling said.<\/p>\n

In Do\u00f1a Ana County, you can track estimated wait times for lines at all voting convenience centers online<\/a>. And you can vote at the center of your choice.<\/p>\n

Theresa Adams of Las Cruces said she was in line at Tombaugh Elementary waiting to vote at 7:30 a.m.<\/p>\n

“It took longer for the computer to find me and to print the ballot than it did to vote,” Adams\u00a0said. “There were few choices of course. So it was an easy process.”<\/p>\n

Carrie Frey also had an easy time voting in Santa Fe on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n

“I voted in Santa Fe at Salazar Elementary at 7 a.m.,” she said. “Only took about 10 minutes.”<\/p>\n

Erica Ramos voted at Anthony Elementary School in Anthony.<\/p>\n

“Got there right at 7 a.m., was out by 7:08 a.m.,” she said. “Only four people were ahead of me. Easy.”<\/p>\n

The Secretary of State’s Office said things were running smoothly statewide.<\/p>\n

“Things are going well so far,” said state Elections Director Kari Fresquez. “Absolutely no reports of problems from the counties in getting the polls open by 7 a.m.<\/span><\/span> and our phones have been steady with standard inquiries from voters.”<\/p>\n
