{"id":1523,"date":"2007-04-03T20:44:00","date_gmt":"2007-04-04T02:44:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/04\/spaceport-tax-election-now-too-close-to-call\/"},"modified":"2007-04-03T20:44:00","modified_gmt":"2007-04-04T02:44:00","slug":"spaceport-tax-election-now-too-close-to-call","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2007\/04\/spaceport-tax-election-now-too-close-to-call\/","title":{"rendered":"Spaceport tax election now too close to call"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The election on whether to raise the gross receipts tax in <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Do\u00f1a<\/st1:placename> <st1:placename st=\"on\">Ana<\/st1:placename>  <st1:placename st=\"on\">County<\/st1:placename><\/st1:place> to help fund <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spaceportamerica.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Spaceport America<\/a> is too close to call.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The total from early voting and 20 precincts is 3,567 votes, or 50.6 percent, opposed to the tax and 3,484 votes, or 49.4 percent, in favor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The new numbers I have, from nine additional precincts, are 831 votes, or 58 percent, in favor of the tax, and 592 votes, or 42 percent, opposed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Though 59 percent of early votes opposed the tax, better than 60 percent of the vote in <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Las   Cruces<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> has, thus far, favored approval. If this keeps up, the \u201cYes\u201d votes will have it, but it\u2019s still too early to tell.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">My totals include <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Sunland<\/st1:placename>  <st1:placetype st=\"on\">Park<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place> and Hatch, which were split down the middle \u2013 <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Sunland<\/st1:placename>  <st1:placetype st=\"on\">Park<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place> 19-19 and Hatch 112-109 in favor of the tax.
