Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders will hold public rallies in Albuquerque and Santa Fe on Friday.<\/p>\n

Sanders, who trails Hillary Clinton by a wide margin in the delegate race<\/a> for the Democratic Party’s nomination, has been written off by many pundits and analysts, but he\u00a0continues to battle on<\/a>. He’s\u00a0the first candidate to announce that he will attend public rallies in New Mexico ahead of the state’s June 7 primary.<\/p>\n

“Sanders will discuss a wide range of issues, including getting big money out of politics, his plan to make public colleges and universities tuition-free, combating climate change and ensuring universal health care,” a news release from his campaign states.<\/p>\n

Doors open at 1 p.m. Friday for a rally in the gymnasium at Santa Fe Community College, 6401 Richards Ave.<\/a> The event is free and open to the public, but the campaign “strongly encouraged” RSVPs — which you can do by clicking here<\/a> — because admission is on a first-come, first-served basis.<\/p>\n

Parking is free. The campaign said people shouldn’t bring bags and should limit what they bring to “small, personal items like keys and cell phones.” “Weapons, sharp objects, chairs, and signs or banners on sticks will not be allowed through security,” the news release states.<\/p>\n

Doors open at 5 p.m. on Friday for Sanders’ second New Mexico rally, which will be held at the Albuquerque Convention Center, 401 2nd St. NW<\/a>. This is event is also free and open to the public, and admission is on a first-come, first-served basis. You can RSVP here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The public entrance to the Albuquerque event is through the south entrance to the East Complex Exhibit Halls, the news release states. The rules for what you can bring are the same as they are for the event in Santa Fe.<\/p>\n
